Race Day Information

2014 Run for the Woods 10K start.

CFPA’s Run for the Woods will be held on September 9, 2017 at Sessions Woods WMA in Burlington, CT. Registration is now open!

The event features a 10K trail run on graveled and single-track trail (including the Blue-Blazed Tunxis Trail) and a 5K trail run or walk (participant's choice) on Sessions Woods’ graveled Beaver Pond Trail and Forest Meadow Loop Trail and is being coordinated with support from the CT Trail Runners. Check out our Course Maps & Descriptions for specific trail information.

All funds raised support the Connecticut Forest & Park Association, a 501 (c)(3) statewide conservation nonprofit dedicated to connecting people to the land in order to protect forests, parks, walking trails, and open spaces in Connecticut for public enjoyment.

Race Day Schedule

7:30 a.m. - Day-of Registration and Bib Pick-up

8:00 a.m. - Last shuttle for the 10K leaves from Lewis Mills parking lot

8:30 a.m. - 10K Race Begins and last shuttle for the 5K leaves from Lewis Mills parking lot

9:00 a.m. - 5K Race Begins. Runners lead at front; Walkers follow runners

 


Parking and Shuttle

Parking at Sessions Woods WMA is limited. Overflow Parking is available at Lewis S. Mills High School at 26 Lyon Road in Burlington. A shuttle will run continuously every 30 minutes from 7:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. to transport participants between Sessions Woods and the overflow lot. Please prepare accordingly, carpool if possible, and allow extra time before your scheduled event for registration and/or bib pick-up. The last shuttle to arrive in time for the 10K will leave Lewis Mills at 8 a.m. The last shuttle to arrive on time for the 5K walk or run will leave Lewis Mills at 8:30 a.m.

Sessions Woods WMA and Conservation Education Center is located on Route 69, about 3 miles south of Route 4 in Burlington and 3 miles north of Route 6 in Bristol. Please see the downloadable directions below.
