Support Bonding for Trails (7/22)

A special Legislative session was set for July 22nd to address Connecticut's priorities for bond funding. Unfortunately, consideration of the bond package was postponed until sometime this fall (hopefully).

CFPA is encouraging Legislators to authorize at least $3 million in bonding for recreational trails.

Go here for more about the need for at least $3 million in bonding.

Your email to your House or State Representatives before July 22nd can make a difference! Following is a sample email that you can borrow from:

Dear State Representative/Senator ____________,

My name is _____________, and I am your constituent.

Bonding for recreational trails is an important investment for Connecticut, and I hope you will strongly support at least $3 million for the Recreational Trails & Greenways program in this year’s bonding package.

Since 2016, Connecticut’s Recreational Trails & Greenways program has invested $10 million in 60 recreational trail projects that improve trails in more than half of Connecticut’s municipalities. However, all of the bonding authorized under this program has now been granted, and there were more than $9 million in highly ranked requests that could not be funded in the most recent funding round alone.

Trails are an integral part of Connecticut’s outdoor recreation economy which annually generates $9 billion in consumer spending, $2.2 billion in wages and salaries in the private sector, $502 million in state and local tax revenues, and supports 71,000 Connecticut jobs.

Please support at least $3 million in bonding for recreational trails and greenways in this year’s bond package.

I thank you for your consideration.
