Eagle Scout Project Success in Durham

Spencer Alsup and his crew installing new signage at CFPA's Field Forest

For many years, Spencer Alsup, a local boy scout, has been working towards becoming an Eagle Scout through his local troop in Durham, CT. He approached CFPA in early 2018 to see if we had any larger projects for him to tackle in the area. It just so happened that CFPA had plans to create a property sign for the Field Forest in Durham, but was not sure when or how this project was going to get completed. In 2017 and 2018, CFPA carried out a series of timber harvests on Field Forest, re-routed and re-blazed some of the trails (with the help of volunteers) and installed educational signage on site. With minimal guidance from CFPA, Spencer ran with this project and completed it in November of 2019. He raised funds, designed, routed, assembled, painted and installed a beautiful property sign along the roadside. This project has greatly improved the visibility of the Field Forest, CFPA and the Trails. Thank you Spencer for the wonderful work you have done!
