Moss Sanctuary
Public access allowed via Moss Sanctuary Trails.
The Moss Sanctuary Conservation Easement protects upland and wetland woodlands and Tift Pond just across the road from UConn’s Storrs campus. The property is owned by the Town of Mansfield who maintains a series of trails on the site for public access. Its protection was part of a larger project between CFPA, The Town of Mansfield, UConn, the State of Connecticut, and the Norcross Wildlife Foundation to protect over 550 acres of land and 3.5 miles of trail in the region.
“This 135-acre tract of land has served as an outdoor classroom for University and Town programs and a place where visitors from Northeastern Connecticut can enjoy native flora and fauna, walk through trails, and discover a variety of natural habitats.” – Matt Hart, Mansfield Town Manager
