As some of you may be aware, CFPA offers an “800 mile challenge” to those who want to hike the entire Blue-Blazed Trail System (which is now closer to 900 miles). When someone completes the challenge, we invite them into the CFPA office to receive an 800 mile vest (and plenty of pats on the back!). Check out our photo gallery to see some of the stellar hikers who have completed the challenge.
Recently, one of our newer volunteers finished the 800 mile challenge. In fact, he walked every mile of the Blue-Blazed Hiking Trails IN BOTH DIRECTIONS.
After we picked our jaws up off the floor, he made another declaration: he would be making a generous donation of $1 for every mile of Blue Trail he hiked to both celebrate his achievement and recognize the diligent work that CFPA staff and volunteers invest in the trails statewide.
Dedicated hikers like Dennis never cease to amaze us at CFPA. We are so grateful not only for his donation, but also for his dedication as a trail volunteer. Dennis has both given us excellent feedback on areas needing attention, and has also done physical work to keep trails open and available for everyone. We hope he continues to enjoy the trails (after some much deserved rest!).
