It was a cold, rainy Saturday. But that didn’t stop the intrepid outdoor lovers from showing up at REI in West Hartford. They trekked to REI to take advantage of the first used gear swap hosted by REI in Connecticut.
Throughout the morning, people trekked to the store to trade their gear, and many stopped at the CFPA display in front of the store and asked about trails. CFPA volunteers and staff were there telling people about all the good work our member/donors make happen with their donations.
Again and again REI has supported CFPA and the gear swap was no different. Not only did REI make a donation to CFPA from the gear swap, but they donated $1,000 worth of brand new gear to our trails department. These tarps, sleeping bags, and tents will all be put to good use in 2019 by the Summer Trail Crew and the Student Conservation Corps.
Just look how excited Clare is about them!
We are so grateful for REI and their continued support of Connecticut’s forests, parks and trails. To read about their store opening in West Hartford, click here. To see photos of 2018’s summer trail crew, check out the photo gallery.
