Hike to the site of a famous train wreck. It was foggy as the sun rose on December 4, 1891. Due to incomplete communications and a slight delay, two trains collided head on at the East Thompson Junction. In the state of shock and confusion, by the time anyone remembered the Express to Boston in time to stop it and the high speed as the train came over the ridge and crashed into the wreck already spread across the tracks with one more Limited Express right behind it. This hike has six group leaders and start times will be staggered 20 minutes apart in groups of 15. Leader will give you exact start time upon registration.
