Hike the Pomperaug Trail to the lower junction with the Crest Trail. Hike the Crest Trail north back to start point. Pass several small rock scrambles, large glacial erratic boulders, old stone walls, Mountain Laurel thickets, vernal pool, erosion control devices, charcoal hearth site, seasonal views of Lake Zoar, and evidence of the destruction caused in the park by the tornado of May 15, 2018 .
Not stroller friendly. Hikers should wear sturdy footwear, and bring water, and a snack. Good picnic opportunities at the end of the hike if you bring your lunch.
