This event will be an educational and entertaining loop walk on wide flat paths through relatively clear wooded areas of massive oaks and hemlocks, groves of juvenile pines, and soft ferns. The approaches feature open meadows which offer large numbers of fledging birds and lovely wildflowers. Our guides will set a moderate pace with frequent stops to describe the history of this area, natural features, and the construction adventures of the numerous bridges over local streams. The route will be level and dry underfoot unless there has been a recent heavy rain. Each walk section will be limited to eight persons. A new section, with a departure time 30 minutes later will be opened as the previous section is filled. Please remain in your vehicle until your registration information has been checked by the walk leader. Consider bringing a hat, water, and bug spray. No restroom facilities are available. Due to frequent tree roots underfoot, wheelchairs and walkers are inappropriate. Masks and social distancing are required.
