Hartland - Hike
Barkhamsted Reservoir/Hartland Hollow
Saturday, June 1
9:00am - 11:00am
This hike will take us down an old road leading to the now-flooded Hartland Hollow and the edge of the Barkhamsted Reservoir. We will then turn south to walk along the reservoir for approximately a mile and then return. Since the 1930’s this pristine reservoir has separated East Hartland from West Hartland and public access to the land surrounding it is ordinarily restricted to protect the purity of the drinking water. Hartland Land Trust is excited to offer this rare opportunity to get an up-close, water’s edge view of the reservoir and what remains of the farming community of Hartland Hollow. This will be a one-way hike; transportation back to the starting point will be provided. The climb back is fairly steep. Please bring water, a snack if you would like, and bug spray/sunscreen.
