Hampton - Hike
Various Goodwin Trails
Saturday, June 1
2:00pm - 5:00pm
The trails on the west side, including parts of the Blue-Blazed Nachaug Trail, are generally less traveled at Goodwin, but they are some of the best in the park. Most are wide and easy walking with very little elevation gain. We will travel through some beautiful pine forests, around a pond and through areas where the mountain laurel could still be in bloom. An added possibility would be an overlook area where Bald Eagles have been spotted. Length of hike will be determined by consensus and trail conditions, but please plan on 5-7 miles. Light rain/sprinkle is still a go, heavy rain cancels. Please wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring a snack , 1-2 quarts of water per person, bug repellent and sunscreen. Because of the distance, it may not be appropriate for small children.
