Mattabesett Trail, Durham- Trail Relocation

The Mattabesett Trail, between Old Blue Hills Rd and Pisgah Rd in Durham, has been relocated. This 1.3 mile roadwalk has been eliminated and the trail has been moved into the woods on State Forest, Regional Water Authority and Town property. The new trail route is displayed on our interactive trail map and on the trail map below. The new trail section is approximately 4.2 miles long. In the Mt Pisgah Open Space property, the Mattabesett Trail overlaps with a purple-blazed non-motorized, multiuse trail.

Additionally, the section of blue trail that used to connect to Old Blue Hills Rd has been converted to blue/orange blazes and will be referred to as the Coginchaug Connector Trail.

Please note, parking is NOT allowed at the trail crossing of Rt 79. Additionally, please note that dogs and mountain bikes are NOT allowed on Regional Water Authority property.
