Science Sunday: Winter Trees - Ecology & Identification
PLEASE NOTE THE TIME OF THIS EVENT IS 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Join us for this interesting Science Sunday to learn how to identify tree using twigs, bark, seeds and other helpful tree parts. We will also discuss the various roles trees have in the forest. There will be an introductory power point presentation by Lucy Meigs, followed by Pete & Barb Rzasa introducing their collection of twigs and nuts from local trees. Informal small group discussion and exploration of samples will enable participants to refine their understanding of trees. There will be a number of resources available to look through.
This is an indoor presentation/workshop followed by a short walk where we will work together to identify trees and refine our understanding about trees. Inclement weather may keep us indoors for a longer talk with an exploration of samples. Dress comfortably and in layers for indoor/outdoor learning.
Pre-registration is required by following the "Sign Up" link below. In order to facilitate group discussion, participation is limited to the first 20 people registered. This program is free and open to the public.
