Where:

Middlefield, Connecticut 06481
Event Type:
Walks & Talks
Audience:

Event Description:

These large predators are all over Connecticut. Join us for Science Sunday where we will learn about Coyotes – how they live, where they live, what they eat, what you should and shouldn’t do if you see a coyote, and some fascinating facts that may surprise you.

Then we will head out to Highlawn Forest, adjacent to CFPA headquarters, for a nature walk, weather permitting. During this time you can try to identify habitats, food sources and apply facts you have learned about coyotes!

This Science Sunday is led by Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) Master Wildlife Conservationist Peggy Zabawar. Peggy has been an educator and planner for CT state agencies for over 20 years. In 2013, she joined the DEEP Master Wildlife Conservationist program by completing course and field work with DEEP wildlife biologists and other experts. Projects Peggy has participated in include banding wild geese, the annual butterfly survey and assisting at the Bald Eagle viewing site at Shepaug Dam.
