Event Description:

Join us to show support for the Community Investment Act at the Legislative Office Building. Since 2005, the Community Investment Act has made over $133 MILLION in investments in Agriculture/Farmland Preservation, Open Space, Historic Preservation, and Affordable Housing. Over 1,100 projects in 168 towns, and growing! Direct benefits to almost EVERY COMMUNITY in our state – from urban to suburban to rural districts. This successful legislation has exceeded all expectations. Spend the afternoon meeting with legislators to share success stories and protect the Community Investment Act. There will be instructions given before volunteers meet with legislators.

Help defend the Community Investment Act from the complete sweep proposed in the Governor’s Budget. The Governor proposes to completely sweep all funds from the Community Investment Act (CIA) from January 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, depositing all funds in the general fund over that time period. This unprecedented diversion would effectively end the Community Investment Act as we know it, directly impacting the character of our state.

We need your help speaking with legislators in your town to protect this crucial fund!
