NET Fall Hike Series- Mattabesett Trail Opening
Join us for this celebratory hike and ribbon cutting on a newly constructed, and recently opened, section of the Mattabesett Trail in Durham. The longstanding roadwalk on Old Blue Hills Rd has been replaced with a beautiful and rugged 4.2 mile stretch of trail featuring laurel groves, vernal pools, rolling woodlands, a steep ravine, a ridgewalk and more! Our hiking pace will be moderate with occasional stops to showcase new trail structures. We will finish with great views on Mt Pisgah.
There will be an option to peel off after 3.2 miles if you don't have enough time for the entire hike.
Sorry, no pets please.
This hike will require a car shuttle. Please arrive at the Dead Hill Rd trailhead at 9:45 am so we can shuttle to the hike's starting point (Old Blue Hills Rd cul-de-sac) for a 10:00 am departure.
This hike is being held as part of the NET Fall Hike Series in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System and qualifies as part of the NET Hike 50 Challenge Program.
