NET Fall Hike Series- Mattabesett Trail
Mattabessett Trail, Middletown (A2B)
Meet at 9:00 a.m. to car spot at 9:15 a.m. from Tynan Park, 199 Higby Rd., Middletown, for this 10-mile one-way hike on the Mattabesett Trail. We will hike over Beseck Mountain with views of Beseck Lake and Black Pond, and then ascend Higby Mountain. The trail has a series of climbs and descents.
Hiking poles are recommended to provide stability over the uneven terrain and the stream crossings. With the steep terrain, this is definitely not a hike for beginning or out of shape hikers. No dogs due to the car spot.
This hike is being held as part of the NET Fall Hike Series in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System and qualifies as part of the NET Hike 50 Challenge Program.
