Event Description:

Jess Wikle, consulting forester and graduate student at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, will lead this workshop on cultivating shiitake mushrooms. The event will begin with an indoor presentation on the background and basics behind cultivating shiitake mushrooms. We will then go out in the field for a hands-on demonstration of how to inoculate logs for mushroom growth and how to manage them once inoculated. Participants will receive their own log to inoculate at the workshop and take home!

The program fee of $5 for CFPA members and $10 for non CFPA members will help contribute to the cost of materials for the workshop. Please bring cash or a check made payable to Connecticut Forest & Park Association.
