Metacomet Trail Hardening Work Party - Farmington
Join us on the Metacomet Trail as we continue this ongoing effort to improve the climb up to Rattlesnake Mountain. This highly-trafficked section of the New England Trails is well-known for being muddy and difficult for much of the year. CFPA and our volunteers have been working diligently to construct a turnpike and armored swale to harden the trail and improve hiking conditions. Friday is calling for temperatures in the low 40s, please dress warmly.
Work will include: gathering stone to armor the swale, and framing/construction of the new turnpike.
What to bring: lunch, water, work clothes, gloves, sturdy boots
Tools will be provided.
