Where? Naugatuck State Forest, Hamden
When? July 15: 9:30am for 2.5 to 3 hours
What to bring: Bug repellent, water, snack, hiking boots, appropriate clothing and food (if needed). Bring a friend!
Highlights- see a wide variety of habitats from vernal pools to ridgetop communities on very thin soils (and a stream if we detour towards Rt 42), a variety of forest management practices, invasive species, recovery from a wildfire in the mid-1990s, and an excellent view from the Mt. Sanford overlook.

Parking Information: Meet at end of Downes Road by gate to YMCA camp. From Route 69 in Bethany, take Gaylord Mt Road to stop sign and turn left on Downes Road. From Route 10 (Whitney Ave) in Hamden, take Todd Street (which has a left then quick right on Sheppard) to Gaylord Mt Road, turn right and follow past Broken Arrow Nursery to stop sign and turn right on Downes Road.
