Event Description: 

Hike with a forester - Co-sponsored by the Connecticut Chapter of Society of the American Foresters

Where? Cockaponset State Forest, Haddam
When? April 15  9 am  2.5 to 3 hours
What to bring: Bug repellent, water, snack, hiking boots, appropriate clothing and food (if needed). Bring a friend!

Meet at parking lot for Turkey Hill Marsh on the west side of Filley Road (gravel section), 1.0 miles south of the route 9 overpass. There is a sign for the marsh and yellow gate at the back of the small parking lot.

Highlights- Turkey Hill Natural Area Preserve; remnants of old charcoal mound; forest management; evidence of Emerald Ash Borer, a 1942 forest fire and old homestead. 

Hike Distance: 2.5 miles - easy to moderate; partly off trail; partly on forest roads.
