Fabulous Frogs Ramble

Saturday, March 28, 2020 - 11:30am - 1:30pm
Field Forest
Bear Rock Road
Durham, Connecticut 06422
Event Type:
Walks & Talks
All are welcome
Event Description:

Bring your curiosity and join us for an approximately 1-mile round trip hike to visit the large vernal pool on CFPA's Field Forest property in Durham. In early spring the wood frogs thaw out (yes, they do freeze in winter) and return to near-by vernal pools to lay there eggs. On this hike, what we see will depend on the recent weather. There will likely be wood frog eggs and there maybe wood frogs, fairy shrimp, spotted salamanders, etc. Viewing scopes will be available.

This program will be led by Everyone Outside Enrichment Program Director and CFPA Ramble Guide Lisa Liesener. Participants are advised to wear boots or old shoes and clothes that are OK to get dirty as there can be muddy areas. If you have polarized sunglasses, please bring them; they are helpful for seeing into the water since there are reflections. To the parents, thank you in advance for helping to keep the children out of the water.
