Discover Highlawn Forest Youth Series: Wildlife
Join Master Naturalist Lynn Kochiss and guest expert Lance Hansen for an informative program about native furbearer wildlife species in Connecticut.
Lance will be displaying pelts, skulls, and wildlife print casts for identification. The presentation will include habitat needs, predictable behaviors, and nuisance concerns for Connecticut residents about these animals. A discussion about the Wildlife Rehabilitation Program and the Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator (NWCO) program will also be included.
All children must be accompanied by an adult for this program.
Lance D. Hansen has worked for the CT DEEP Wildlife Division, Technical Assistance Program, since 2008. He is a Master Wildlife Conservationist and a Goodwin Conservation Center Master Naturalist. Lance is the CFPA Trails Manager for the Walcott Trail at Burr Pond State Park as well as an extremely active volunteer for the Friends of American Legion and Peoples State Forests.
Lynn Kochiss is an environmental educator who has been a CFPA volunteer since 2007. She is a certified elementary teacher, a Project Learning Tree Facilitator, and a Goodwin Conservation Center Master Naturalist. Lynn was recognized as a National PLT Outstanding Educator in 2013 for her work in environmental education. Her most recent endeavors for CFPA have focused on programming designed to connect people of all ages to the outdoors.
