CFPA Ramble: Women of the Woods Sit Spot Hike with Sunset Hike at Mt. Pisgah
Women of the Woods or WoW has monthly gatherings for women to enable them to connect with the natural world. Most gatherings are hikes in the woods of central Connecticut. In addition to hiking we take the time to admire the beauty around us, experience some quiet time in nature, and enjoy each others company.
Women, join Women of the Woods founder, Lucy Meigs for a 4-mile hike at the beautiful Mica Ledges and Pisgah Mountain Preserves. We will hike by Pyramid Rock, up to and along some pretty wooded ledges and then down to the beautiful Whitney Pond. Along the way we will stop for an ~20 minute sit spot. This is simply enjoying some quiet time in the woods to be present to the beauty around us. We will have a picnic supper near Whitney Pond, before we ascend Mt Pisgah. There are some steeper sections on this part of the hike, but we will take our time. After enjoying sunset on the summit, we will hike down on an old road.
Please wear hiking boots with good tread. Please bring a pack with water, a jacket, a flashlight and a sack supper or a snack. I suggest you dress in non-cotton layers so you can remove layers if you get hot and put them back on when we stop or slow down. Cotton is cold when it is wet, so it I recommend wool or synthetic clothing in spring to avoid getting chilled.
NOTE: This hike is for women only. Please do not bring male friends or pets. Registration is required, please contact the leader at the information provided below. Directions will be sent to all who register.
PLEASE ARRIVE BETWEEN 4:15 AND 4:25 P.M. FOR A 4:30 P.M. DEPARTURE
