CFPA Ramble: Women of the Woods Hike
Women of the Woods or WoW has monthly gatherings for women to enable them to connect with the natural world. Most gatherings are hikes in the woods of central Connecticut. In addition to hiking, we take the time to admire the beauty around us, experience some quiet time in nature and enjoy each others company.
Join Women of the Woods and the Middlesex Land Trust for a moderately challenging 2 to 3-mile hike at the Mica Ledges Preserve owned by the Middlesex Land Trust and the Madison Land Conservation Trust. We will spend some time enjoying the view from the top of the mica-studded ridge, visit the selectman's stones and exploring the area around the beautiful Whitney Pond. We may also check out a cool cave.
If you would like to improve your map reading skills, a portion of this program will be devoted to using a map to comfortably navigate trails or possibly off trail. As part of our walk, we will also spend some time sitting quietly in nature (AKA sit spot). Lucy will talk about ways you can take this sit spot experience home for an enjoyable, relaxing nature connection practice.
This hike has a couple short steep section. Please wear hiking/walking shoes. Please bring a pack with water, a jacket and possibly a snack. Please bringing hiking poles if you like them. The fallen leaves could make is more challenging on the downhills or when the ground is uneven.
Lucy is a SOLO Wilderness First Aid/CPR-trained CFPA Ramble Guide and founder of Women of the Woods and Everyone Outside.
NOTE: This hike is for women only. Please do not bring children, male friends, or pets. Registration is required, please contact the leader at the information provided below. Directions and additional information will be sent to all who register.
