New England National Scenic Trail - Chittenden Park
Guilford, Connecticut 06437
Event Type:
Outdoor Recreation
All are welcome
Event Description:

Join the Happy Homeschool Hikers of Hamden as they work their way up the New England National Scenic Trail. This series is targeted to homeschool students and their families as we explore the New England Trail (NET).

This week's hike will be short but symbolic as we meet in Guilford at Chittenden Park, the southern terminus of the NET. Enjoy a short walk along the sidewalk trail to the train station where we’ll climb up and over the walkway to the north side of the tracks and continue on Old Whitfield Street to the Henry Whitfield State Museum.  We’ll take pictures at Connecticut's Oldest House and New England's Oldest Stone House, then hike back to enjoy games and explore the shore upon returning to the park. Please pack water and snacks and prepare to potentially get wet playing at the shore.

Riley is an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR-trained CFPA Ramble Guide.

Parking Information:
Ample parking is available at Chittenden Park.
Inclement Weather:
We usually hike in the rain and snow, but if we don't we'll let you know. All pre-registered participants will be notified in the case of a cancellation.
