CFPA Ramble: New Year's Day Hike

Event Description: 

Join CFPA and CT AMC for a two-hour family-friendly hike. We will begin promtly at 1 pm at the Rt. 80 trail head to the Timberland Preserve and follow a moderate pace to a point where the Iron Stream feeds into Upper Guilford Lake. The return trail will be leader's choice. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult and have an AMC volunteer release agreement signed by a parent or legal guardian. If you plan on bringing a child not your own, please inform the leader when you register.

Due to the high interest in hikes on this date, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

There is a small parking area on Rt. 80 (Old Toll Rd)

This free guided outing is co-sponsored by the CFPA Rambles program of the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA) and Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (CT AMC).

As program of the Connecticut Forest & Park Association, CFPA Rambles are intended to bring people, fun, and the outdoors together. Led by trained CFPA Ramble Guides, these FREE, engaging outings are offered on trails around the state every month throughout the year. Each CFPA Ramble is designed to show the people of Connecticut how easy and enjoyable a ramble can be and to feature the many different outdoor opportunities our state has to offer.

To prepare for a safe and enjoyable CFPA Ramble:

  1. Be ready to begin the Ramble at the scheduled start time;
  2. Bring water, snack, and your excitement;
  3. Leave pets at home (unless otherwise noted);
  4. Wear sturdy shoes; and
  5. Kids, please remember to bring your parents or caregivers.
