CFPA Ramble: Hike Along the River - University of Hartford Magnet School Hike
This hike is for the University of Hartford Magnet school students and their families only.
Join UHMS friends for a hike along the shores of the Connecticut River on trails going north from Riverside Park in Hartford. We will walk through a floodplain forest that is filled with huge trees and native plants. There will be close-up views of the river and its wildlife, with the possibility of seeing a bald eagle or two! The entire hike will be about three miles on level terrain.
We will meet at the park gazebo that is clearly visible from the parking lot and from the pedestrian overpass. Arriving by car from the Jennings Rd exit, there is free parking at Riverside Park in the lot near the boathouse and the playground. You can also get to the park easily from downtown Hartford via the Riverside Park Overpass (pedestrian bridge over Route 91) from Pequot St behind the Candlewood Suites Hotel (370 Market St) with bus stops close by.
Students are welcome and must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Sturdy shoes or sneakers are recommended. No dogs, please. Registration is required and can be completed by emailing Anne at firstname.lastname@example.org.
