Event Description: 

Join Connecticut Forest & Park Association and Everyone Outside on an adventure as we explore the area around beautiful Highland Pond.

The Highland Pond Preserve is one of Middlesex Land Trust’s “Signature Preserves” and hosts a section of the New England National Scenic Trail. Enjoy a short walk through the preserve which was once a circa-1885 railroad bed to enjoy views of the pond and Higby Mountain.

Meet us at the Bell Street access point. Please pack water, snacks, and a light jacket for this early autumn adventure. 

Lisa is an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR-trained volunteer CFPA Ramble Guide. She is also the Enrichment Programs Director for Everyone Outside.

Please park on side of the road near a white gate. Parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged.

This free guided outing is co-sponsored by the CFPA Rambles program of the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA), Middlesex Land Trust and Everyone Outside.

As a program of the Connecticut Forest & Park Association, CFPA Rambles are intended to bring people, fun, and the outdoors together. Led by trained CFPA Ramble Guides, these FREE, engaging outings are offered on trails around the state every month throughout the year. Each CFPA Ramble is designed to show the people of Connecticut how easy and enjoyable a ramble can be and to feature the many different outdoor opportunities our state has to offer.

To prepare for a safe and enjoyable CFPA Ramble:

  1. Be ready to begin the Ramble at the scheduled start time;
  2. Bring water, snack, and your excitement;
  3. Leave pets at home (unless otherwise noted);
  4. Wear sturdy shoes; and
  5. Kids, please remember to bring your parents or caregivers.
