CFPA Annual Meeting
Join us at CFPA's 2015 Annual Meeting held in Wesleyan's Beckham Hall with keynote speaker Mary Tyrrell, Executive Director of Global Institute of Sustainable Forestry (GISF). You are welcome to join us for a light lunch at 2 p.m. which will be followed by the organizational business portion of the meeting and the keynote address.
Mary brings her years of research in land use, forest health and conservation to us in a presentation titled "Connecticut Highlands: Forests for Our Future." She is the Executive Director of the Global Institute of Sustainable Forestry at Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Her work focuses on land use change, forest fragmentation, and sustainable forest management on U.S. private lands, with a particular emphasis on review and synthesis of scientific research, and making scientific information available to forest managers and conservationists. She co-leads the Sustaining Family Forests Initiative, a national coalition aimed at improving the effectiveness of outreach, services and programs for family forest owners, thus enhancing conservation and stewardship of America’s private lands. Close to home, she has led research projects on land use change and forest health in the Connecticut Highlands and has just published a report “Understanding Connecticut Woodland Owners: A Report on the Attitudes, Values and Challenges of Connecticut’s Family Woodland Owners”.
The cost for the event is only $20 per person. Please RSVP by May 11th by calling 860-346-2372. Checks or Credit card accepted.
