Bug Bonanza at Goodwin State Forest

When:
Sunday, September 12, 2021 - 11:00am - 1:00pm
Where:
James L Goodwin State Forest
23 Potter Road
Hampton, Connecticut 06247
Event Type:
Walks & Talks
Audience:
Invitation-only
Event Description:

Girl Scouts will be introduced to basic entomology topics (what is an insect/bug? Why are they important? Etc.) and then have the opportunity to use bug nets to catch whatever we can find in the large field at Goodwin. We’ll ID what we can and then release them all. There may also be some swallowtail and monarch caterpillars on-hand to teach participants about butterflies—and if the caterpillars morph before the event then there may be a chance to help release them! (Parts of this event may help you check off some items on your Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors checklist.)
