Event Description: 

The moderate brisk-paced hike of 5-6 miles in scenic Goodwin State Forest will cover most of the forest area, going counterclockwise on the yellow/yellow-white trails, around Pine Acres Pond and Brown Hill Loop, then north on the red trails to Governor's Island where we can snack and watch bird life on the platform. From there we continue north on the blue/white trail across the Airline Trail to Black Spruce Pond, then return via the blue-blazed Natchaug Trail. All hikers should prepare by wearing closed-toed outdoor footwear, hat, sunglasses and suncreen/insect repellent. For your comfort, please bring at least 1-2 liters of water or energy drink and lunch/snacks if neccessary. Well mannered, leashed dogs are welcome. Meet at the trail kiosk just off the Goodwin Conservation Center parking lot no later than 9:45 am.
