Blacklighting and Sugaring for Moths

When:
Wednesday, July 22, 2015 - 8:00pm - 10:15pm
Where:
Goodwin Forest Conservation Education Center
23 Potter Road
Hampton, Connecticut 06247
Event Type:
Presentation
Audience:
All are welcome
Event Description:

We'll set up a mercury vapor lamp to attract moths, as well as special ‘sugaring’ sites to attract these denizens of the night. We have no idea what we will find but should be able to identify a dozen or so. Some of the moths may be very large and dramatic, but others may be tiny micros only a ¼ of an inch long. Either way it will be fun to discover what is flying around in your yard and the woods at night!

We suggest you wear light long pants and a long sleeved shirt; insect repellant may also be necessary.
