Thanks to Trails Day Participants and Volunteers

Whether you were leading or taking a hike, participating in a Trail work party, or relaxing after hours of Trail maintenance, CFPA thanks you for your outstanding, dedicated efforts to make Trails Day a great success once again!

I hope you enjoyed an absolutely beautiful weekend.  With your help, we connected  thousands of people to some of Connecticut's most special places through 130 Trails Day events held in over 80 towns.  We will be posting pictures from some of these events on a special page in the coming days.

If you enjoyed being a part of Connecticut Trails Day, we encourage you to consider the following:

  • Join CFPA if you are not already a member (or tell your friends if you are);
  • Sign-up on CFPA's email list for notification of future events;
  • Tell your friends about the 825-mile long Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail System, a Connecticut treasure that you work to conserve; and
  • If you live in one of the 20 towns the MMM/New England National Scenic Trail runs through, consider joining us at the national scenic trail celebration on June 22nd.

Thank you for your support!

Eric Hammerling
Executive Director, CFPA

p.s.  We'd also like to give a special thanks to our crucial Trails Day sponsors!

The Trails Day theme for 2009 is Take in the Outdoors!, an invitation to get outside and experience everything Connecticut's great outdoors has to offer. Events range from hiking and biking to paddling, horseback-riding, trail maintenance, orienteering, letterboxing - a great variety of fun activities for everyone to enjoy!

Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA) has served as American Hiking Society's state coordinator for Trails Day since 1993. We're proud to say that, with enthusiastic participation by more than a hundred groups and organizations, Connecticut has consistently held the highest number of events of any state in the nation!

This year Trails Day events are scheduled to take place in 90 towns statewide. If you want to get outdoors and join one of the many Trails Day activities, check out our popular Trails Day brochure. If you'd like to be added to the brochure mailing list, send an e-mail to info@ctwoodlands.org with Trails Day 2009 in the subject line, or call CFPA at 860-346-2372.

Are you and your familiy participating in the DEP's Great Park Pursuit? On Friday, June 5, we'll reveal which Trails Day events are part of this program - don't forget to come back for a look!
