Where fun happens....naturally

Seasonal Explorations
Discover the myriad natural events occurring in Connecticut's forests, trails and vernal pools.  Using scavenger hunts, field games, and hands-on activities, scouts and other youth enjoy investigating the birds, tracks, rotting logs, and plant life. Explore the outdoors winter, spring, summer or fall.  Activities are adapted to the season and the age of the group.

Clue Detectives
Don your detective hats and have fun learning how to use a compass. Follow clues along the trail and work in small teams to put a "puzzle" together by taking compass bearings and readings.  The completed puzzle will give the last clue.

Wildlife Watcher
Habitat hunts, animal home hikes, and tracking in the snow are a few of the fun ways to engage in watching wildlife in the woods.  Learn how the habitat basics - food, water, shelter - determine if wildlife can survive in certain areas.  Join the fun exploration of wildlife watching.

Goin' Frogging
Splash - explore the wonderful world of the vernal pool in the springtime.  Before this shallow body of water dries up in the summer, frogs and salamanders breed and lay their eggs here.  Children learn how to identify common frogs by call and sight and use simple collection methods to discover the creepy, crawlies that also call the water their home.
