Event Info:
Enjoy an easy, but bumpy, walk along a former railroad. The Cheney Railroad was built in 1869 to connect the Cheney silk mills to the main rail line in the North End. At 2.5 miles, it was the longest private freight-and-passenger railroad in the United States. We will hike along the one-mile portion owned by the Manchester Land Conservation Trust, which will take about 1.25 hours round trip, with a possible additional walk to Center Springs Park a 55-acre urban park in the center of town. Families and singles are all welcome. Children will receive a free railroad patch.
Extreme weather cancels. Phone Family Guide Susan (860-643-9776) if questions.
