Mattabesett Trail, River Road Section, Middletown- Trail Notice

The power line crossing of the Mattabesett Trail (map MB-1) near its eastern terminus at River Road remains the site of a great deal of heavy construction. Hikers have reported that it can be tough finding the trail on the western side of the power lines. That's because many trees have gone down to widen the power lines and to put in new poles, wires, etc. We are trying to keep up with this, but be aware that continuing construction may result in the loss of blazed trees, and access may be temporarily blocked. Be careful in the area. Stay well clear of equipment and active construction by Northeast Utilities.
