METACOMET TRAIL, Farmington - New Settlement Road Trail

This new trail connects the Metacomet Trail with a parking pull-over area on the south side of Route 6, west of the Metacomet Trail and east of Pinnacle Road in Farmington. (Parking is very limited along Route 6 at the Metacomet trail crossing.) 

Direction of travel: West to east, Length: 0.1 mile.  The side trail follows a short section of the old Settlement Road, dating back to colonial times, between Farmington and New Britain. Beginning at the east end of the parking area, quickly reach the shelf of the old Settlement Road,  turn left (east), and follow the earthen road bed through open woods to the Metacomet Trail (0.1), a few hundred feet south of Route 6.
