Mission, Vision & Values
Mission
Our ongoing mission is to conserve the land, trails, and natural resources of Connecticut.
Vision
We envision Connecticut as an inviting place in which to live and work, a place where the quality of life is grounded in the quality and care of the land.
Values
We consider it our responsibility to future generations to work toward the sustainable and prudent use of Connecticut's woodlands, farms, trails and wildlife habitats, through stewardship, education and advocacy. We seek to foster a sense of community endeavor around land conservation through outreach to grassroots organizations, government agencies, and to our members and friends, the embodiment of our historic objective to bring people together in cooperative fashion to enjoy their natural surroundings. To CFPA, the ability of people to connect to nature and the land - whether visually, physically, economically, or spiritually - is an essential ingredient to maintain a high quality of life in Connecticut. Our parks, forests, trails and other open spaces need to be available for public use and enjoyment, and they need to be linked to the extent possible for the natural movement of both people and wildlife. Our forests, farmlands, lakes, streams and wetlands need to be conserved, must have prudent, long-term stewardship, and must be used wisely with a goal of sustainability. The sustenance of these vital natural resources is our ethical responsibility to present and future generations.
