WalkConnecticut Family Guided Hikes
Last weekend of every month

Want to bring your family in the outdoors but not sure what to do?  Join us for fun family hikes on the trails led by education staff or volunteer Family Hike Leaders trained by CFPA.  Enjoy walking in the woods, traipsing through wetlands, sensing the coolness of streams and fern gullies, and much more!  Each guided hike will introduce the beauty of Connecticut’s lands to you and your family.  We’ll learn about safety, how to stay found and not get lost and find out what to fill in that day pack.  Guided Family Hikes are offered at no cost as a public service to Connecticut’s children and families as part of CFPA’s WalkConnecticut initiative, creating healthy families by connecting them to the land.

Pre-registration required for all hikes.  Locations are subject to change; please register ahead of time to learn the correct meeting place and ease or difficulty of trail.  Call CFPA at (860) 346-2372 or  email  info@ctwoodlands.org.

Check this site for additional family guided hikes.

Would you like to be a CFPA Volunteer?

Volunteers are the backbone of Connecticut Forest and Park Association's accomplishments, from managing the Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail System to serving on the CFPA Board of Directors and a variety of committees. Volunteer opportunities at CFPA are available in several areas, including trail maintenance, fund raising, and occasional help in the office with mailings and other clerical support. We also need knowledgeable hike leaders, and people willing to lend us their photos and sketches for use on our website and in Connecticut Woodlands magazine.

Specialized assistance is sought for our Trail Protection program (researching property owner information at town halls), and Geographical Positioning System (GPS) trail mapping project. In addition, volunteers who enjoy working with the public may be interested in staffing a CFPA booth at special events such as agricultural fairs or Earth Day activities

If you would like to become a CFPA volunteer, please call Ann Colson, Director of Volunteers and Trails Coordinator, at 860-346-2372, for an application form or for more information about our volunteer program.

Call CFPA today if you would like a copy of The Blue Blaze, our volunteer newsletter, which includes a schedule of trail work parties. All are welcome to participate!
